The Textron AirLand Scorpion is a jet aircraft being designed by Textron AirLand, which is a join between Textron and AirLand enterprises. The first prototype was built in secret by Cessna at their Kansas facility between April 2012 and December 2013.
The scorpion is powered by two turbofan engines that together produce approximately 8,000 pounds of thrust. The engines are controlled by a proven and reliable Digital Control and supply conditioned bleed air to the pneumatic system. The airframe is made up of composite materials, leading to reduced fatigue and a guaranteed 20,000 hour service life. The plane also boasts 6 hardpoints with options for guided and unguided weapons systems, aided inertial weapons, air to air missiles, laser guided missiles, scaled munitions and a gun.
